Does Jesus care?

“Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time: Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.”  I Peter 5:6-7

The hymn writer asked the question…

“Does Jesus care when my heart is pained
Too deeply for mirth or song,
As the burdens press, and the cares distress
And the way grows weary and long?”

Then he answers it…

“Oh yes, He cares, I know He cares,
His heart is touched with my grief;
When the days are weary, the long nights dreary,
I know my Savior cares.”

Someone who has never had dreary nights or struggled with depression may not know what this song is about. Those who have never experienced sickness or heavy grief will not grasp the hymns meaning. But those who have lost their health know. And those who have said goodbye to “dearest on earth” will understand.

He does care. The Word of God says; “He careth for you”. When everyone seems against you or no one seems to care…He does.

When friends forsake you, He sticks close.

Sometimes He is the only anchor we have in the storm.                                                               I read that during a great storm He was asleep on a pillow…not the least bit worried.           If He is in control why should I worry?

“We cannot always trace God’s hand, but we can always trust God’s heart.” – C. H. Spurgeon

Sleepless nights and difficult days make us cry out to the Saviour. I am glad I have a friend that I can talk to.

    Amen. He is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother.
